Generic heart drugs can prolong survival for patients with ovarian cancer


Researchers at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Centre have found that generic beta blockers, which are typically used to treat heart ailments, can prolong survival for patients suffering from epithelial ovarian cancer. The researchers found that the beta blockers blocked the effects of stress pathways that are associated with the growth of ovarian cancer. Researchers are now at looking at new ways that beta blockers can be used to treat ovarian cancer.
