Generic production of Abilify, antipsychotic drug, approved by FDA

The FDA has announced that it has approved generic versions of Abilify, which will be produced by several different companies, including generics giant Teva Pharmaceuticals. Abilify is an antipsychotic drug which is used to treat mental illnesses such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Additionally, the drug has an orphan drug designation for Tourette’s syndrome. Abilify is owned by Otsuka, a Japanese pharmaceutical firm that purchased its original producer, Avanir Pharmaceuticals, in December of 2014.
