Lebanon’s NSSF Will Only Cover Approved Generics

Lebanon’s Labor Minister, Sejaan Azzi, said that the country’s National Social Security Fund, or NSSF, wouldn’t cover any generic drugs that were not already on the organization’s official list of substitute medicines. NSSF is undergoing some changes to the organizational bylaws, and there had been some speculation that the policy on generic drugs would change. “The National Social Security Fund will not cover any generic drugs that are not on its list, which strictly adheres to the list of generic [brands] approved by the World Health Organization,” Azzi said in a statement. “In addition, it will not cover any generic substitutes which are sold without patient approval.”
