According to sources within the Trump Administration, the President is preparing to issue an executive order on drug pricing. Health and budget officials met late last week in order to determine the scope of the executive order. The issue was a major campaign issue for Trump and his administration has not been able to pass legislation on the issue in the first four months of holding office. One issue that might be addressed with the executive order is federal support for value based agreements, where pharma companies and insurers agree to pay for products based on how well they work. Although Congress hasn’t acted on the issue, the Senate is taking notice. Senator Chuck Grassley released a statement saying he is “very interested” in the contents of the executive order.
